On TurboTax, there is sometimes an error regarding the CA SDI tax, but there is an easy way around it.
There isn't anything wrong with the W2 provided to your employee, but CA asks for SDI to be in box 19 for household employee but in box 14 other employees and this causes TurboTax to be confused.
When your employee is entering their W2, they'll want to enter the information listed in box 19 into box 14 "Other" and type CASDI $[AMOUNT]. Then leave box 19 blank. That is how TurboTax wants to receive this information, even though the state of California provides different direction.
Once box 19 is blank, it will match box 18 and they will be able to move forward with processing the return. This will also render box 20 obsolete so they will not need to enter a "Locality Name".
